Nose Work Competitions—Which Ribbons Do You Need?
Nose Work is one of the most engaging disciplines in dog sports—and it’s growing rapidly. It’s based on a dog’s natural ability to search for and mark different scents, and competitions are usually held in the form of scent trials where the dog must find a specific scent among several others. Here, we’ll go over which rosettes you need to make the awards ceremony fair, clear, and encouraging.
How a Nose Work Competition Typically Works
In the most common forms of Nose Work, the dog searches for a specific scent (such as lavender, eucalyptus, or bay leaf) in various environments—on containers, in vehicles, in a room, or outdoors. Dogs and handlers compete in different classes based on their level of experience, and the top teams are rewarded with placements and titles.
Which rosettes do you need?
Just like in other dog sports, Nose Work rosettes are awarded based on placement and title:
Rosettes for scent tests
We have ready-made rosettes suitable for Nose Work competitions, with variations for the most common scent trials—lavender, eucalyptus, and bay leaf.
When is it worth having custom printing?
Individual home competitions and smaller clubs do just fine with ready-made standard rosettes—they’re delivered quickly and cost as little as 25 SEK each. However, for clubs that organize multiple competitions per year, or want the club’s name and logo on the rosettes, it may be worth upgrading to custom rosettes with your own design—it gives a more professional look and strengthens the club’s brand.
